Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 an egg
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. vanilla extract
food coloring
Instructions:
Leave butter out to soften.
Preheat oven to 350°F or 175°C.
Cream together softened butter and sugar to make a frosting-like mixture; then add your egg and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, combine your flour and baking powder. Fold this into your wet mixture; once you have a dough-like consistency, form into one large ball, then section off a much smaller ball and place this to the side. Roll out your large ball evenly.
Cut off about ~1/4 off your small ball of dough. Color with a drop of yellow food dye (this will be the middle of our flower). Color the rest with whatever petal color you want. We chose a purple that bakes into a light pink!
Roll out small, even-sized balls of colored dough and place in a flower-like pattern on your flattened base of sugar cookie dough.
Once you are happy with your design, place a layer of saran wrap on top of your dough and flatten gently with a rolling pin.
Using cookie cutters, cut out each design.
Bake for ~10 minutes.
Transfer cookies to wire rack and allow to cool.
Voila! You’ve made your very own Flower Print Cookies!
